What Are the Prophets Telling Us Today?

This verse describes what I am feeling in the spirit:

Jeremiah 6:16-17
16Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the
old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find
rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein
.

17Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the
trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

Where do we put the writing of the prophets. They preach constantly
the message of repentance and the need to turn back to the Lord. They
give us the promise of the Savior. They exemplify the coming of the
Holy Spirit who will dwell in flesh. They teach us about the fear of God and
that we can't hold lightly his Will. They compose a good bulk of the
Word which we call the Bible.

Their message is timeless
:

Jeremiah 5:25
25Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have
withholden good things from you.

The carry a message of Judgement against sin and the rebeliousness of
the world

Malachi 4:1-2

For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the
proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day
that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall
leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name
shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye
shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3And ye shall
tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your
feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts
.

. God grants us a free will to choose to live as we want- only we have
to be willing to pick up the tag in the end.

Today's world refuses alot of this message that we read in the
prophets. It was for the life under the Law, say Christians. Jesus
fullfilled their message and erased our part out of the judgement---
apparently. The world squels out that any one that believes in
judgement and any doomsaying is trying to use fear to lord it over the
ignorant.

The Question is What is the message of the Prophets telling us
today?

I really wonder if the influence of the world and the spirit anti-
denominational (or fear of being too judgmental in any way) is causing
us to retreat into an insulated cocoon, where we think we enjoy a
enlightened spiritual view of what is going on, but releases us from
any confrontation that makes us uncomfortable or exposes our own
vulnerability.

Simplify: We want to sit in the middle of the canoe
because we are scared if we move we might get wet

Do you not think if any era of time
needed the message of the prophets it is today? We are more
accountable now that Jesus has come in the flesh and the promise of
redemption if we only accept him. Too many are trampling the message
underfoot.
