Additional Thoughts on Thinking of the Message of the Prophets

Perhaps the message of Jeremiah and the other prophets would be a little hard for us to reconcile with in today's tolerant world. We say we are in a new era (the New Testament), but has God changed in his abhorrence of sin and rebelliousness? Grace and mercy is now available to all that are meek and of a humble heart that turn to him, but the law is still there to judge those that are or choose to be on the outside of this realm. Of course I'm focusing on judging sin, God will judge the people according to righteous judgement, whether they are innocent, etc. He looks on the intents of the heart.

Could the following verse fit into the message of judgment and warning of the prophets. To be full of mercy and good works, wouldn't that motivate you to warn those you love?

James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

How do you think the rich man (the story of Rich man and Lazarus) would have preached to his brothers if
he could have come back from hell? I think it would be pretty intense
though it would pass verse 17 if he managed to turn to the Lord. The
prophet s had vision. They loved the people and it hurt them to say
that Jerusalem would become wasted and trampled underfoot by foriegn
invaders.
The same concern and vision should be expressed to see the
spirit of the world, fasion, love of gain, and the love of pleasure
enter and become more acceptable in our church.
Was Peter Eby harsh to make the statement that he had wished they would have upheld
discipline even if it would have melted the church to half its size? I
am not saying that this action is needed, but to be pure, loving,
gentle, full of mercy doesn't mean to turn a blind eye to what is
taking place. We are not getting panicky, but if you went to heaven or
hell and back or had vision, how serious or what would your actions
be?

Do you think Noah thought that just the act of building the boat was
sufficient message to warn the people or do you not think he was out
there preaching repentance?

I am not trying to be intellectual; break the questions down to this;
If I really love the youth or my brethren would I not plead with them
and warn them personally if needs be that God and his judgments are a
serious thing, because that is what makes his mercy so great. If we
had vision on this....what would be the result....
