Drilling for Lake Vostock: Proof of Eden?

Russian scientists are presently drilling deep (12,366 ft.) 3769 metres for an underground lake in the Antarctica. At that depth, geo-thermal temperatures insulated by that mammoth ice pack are high enough to keep the water from freezing. The lake is about the size of Lake Ontario 180 by 30 mi. They are hoping the water will be pure and untouched for the last 20 million years. They are counting on finding primitive life forms from looooong ago, etc.
My personal hope--if not prayer-- is that they will find evidences of Eden and pre-flood civilization say a ship or other evidences of ancient man. Of course such evidence would probably destroyed or ignored for the sake of studying some blind fairy shrimp that has been dead for 10 million years. None-the-less I have been very interested in following what they may find in the light of Creation. Is it not a mystery what could be buried under all that ice? Perhaps there is major fossils or perhaps a city from warmer times.
Three verses come to mind.

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty 1 Cor. 1:27

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Romans 1:21-22
