Wiebe Quotes: Price of Faith

Faith:

It cost Abraham the yielding up of his son.
It cost Daniel to be cast in the lion’s den.
It cost Stephen death by stoning.
It cost Peter a martyr’s death.
It cost Jesus His life.
Does it Cost You Anything?

Studing Biblical Egyptology

I was helping with some history homework tonight and found some interesting info on the Bible and Egyptology.

1. There was an Egyptian papyrus called "Ipuwer" or "Papyrus Leiden". It is an ancient Egyptian document that describes some of the plagues and upsets of Exodus. The similarities are striking.

2. We also took a turn and looked up on the mummy Yuya that could possibly be Joesph from the Bible. They found his hands in more of a Hebrew prayer position under his chin and not crossed across his chest like other Egyptian mummies. Their is evidence he had a beard in contrast to the shaven Egyptians. He was in charge of the horses and livestock. .........However the Bible states that they brought his body to Canaan in Joshua---so the mystery continues.......

These are just a few things that caught my eye. I am not dogmatic on them being absolutes, but it is interesting and inspiring to make connections with the possibilities.

Across the Mountains---Haiti Book is finally available!

We finally finished the task we set out to do five years ago! Actually I have been working on putting out  a book on Haiti for seven years. Alot of the Haiti articles you have read about on this blog was material I used in this book. Parts of the project go back thirty years ago as missionaries started compiling material together. Across the Mountains is a record of the various programs the COGICM have been involved with in Haiti. Humanitarian work, CSI, 1-W service, history of the congregations, the sinking of the Neptune and Conversion (New Birth) and Eathquake testimonies. It covers a span from 1966-2014.
575 pgs. 70 Illus.
You can order the book from Gospel Publishers or

Wiebe's Quotes-- Letters From A Martyred Christian

Realize that every person is a target of his bankruptcy.

God made you as a vessel that overflows with what is beautiful.  Because of this, you are a target.  Be careful.  Every part of you that is empty of God is filled with the “nothing” that describes this world.  Without God-filled confidence you are vulnerable to pride.  Being filled with His Spirit brings intimacy, and being barren of the same breeds codependence.  God is love, and lust fills the void of His absence. You will be filled either with Everything or with nothing.  The only way to discern the difference is to know Him.

One day this world will say, “Did you really think I could love you?”

Do not be taken in.

Why Gospel Tracts?

1. Tracts can get inside homes and stay there. You can't.

2. Tracts never lose their temper or become involved in arguments.

3. Tracts never flinch or show cowardice.

4. Tracts can stick to the point without compromising.

5. Tracts never get discouraged.

6. Tracts are willing to travel anywhere.

7. Tracts can work 24 hours per day.

8. Tracts are not expensive.

9. Tracts can be read many times over.

10. Tracts contain portions of Scripture, which God will use and bless (Isaiah 55:10,11).

(I do not know the authorship of these points--I recieved them from full time tract worker)

None in Hell

"Tracts everywhere!" said a young man with a sneer as a Christian handed him a gospel tract one afternoon. "No," said the tract distributor quietly, "there will be none in hell," and passed on. God fastened that single sentence in that young man's mind as a nail in a sure place and he could not get rid of it. "None in hell!" seemed to echo in his ears every time he saw a tract, and ultimately he was converted.

For those that like something with more visual there is another resource that I have used in the past. These tracts cost a little, but they definitely can catch your short attention span.

Wiebe Quotes: Saving the Church in America--Paul Washer

I pray with all my heart, the only thing that’s going to save the church in America,
there’s only two possibilities. One is a total reformation in our preaching and our study
of the Word of God, and the other is fierce, horrifying persecution. That’s the only thing
that’s going to save the church in America.
